I can't believe there's not already a thread on this, but try as I might I couldn't find one. Anyhoo, we went last night and for what it's worth, this is a marvellously gory, crowd-pleasing Macbeth for the Call of Duty generation. James McAvoy makes a fine king, but it is Jamie Ballard that steals the acting honours with a sensitive multi-layered Macduff.The set comes across like a SAW movie, and the costumes like Mad Mac - The Woad Warrior. Macbeth is my absolute favourite Shakespeare ever and I'm looking forward to eventually seeing this production. Jamie Lloyd certainly knows how to stage a pretty production, but I will reserve judgement for when I eventually get to see it.
