THE 2nd ANNUAL JUNIOR THEATER FESTIVAL SPRING STUDENT INTENSIVE

Due to the success of the 2011 Junior Theater Festival Spring Intensive and the feedback from its participants, it was announced by Nick Manos, President of Theater of the Stars and Tim McDonald, Founding Chairman of iTheatrics that the Junior Theater Festival Spring Intensives will become an annual event.  The 2nd Junior Theater Festival Spring Student Intensive will take place this month at Whitefield Academy.

The Junior Theater Festival Spring Student Intensive on Saturday April 21, 2012 at Whitefield Academy is an educational, informative and demonstrative workshop that teaches students the skills and pertinent points related to acting, singing, dancing and auditioning.  The Intensive begins at 9:00 a.m. with a 30 minute introduction and warm-up and then moves to four 45 minute workshops.  The workshops focus on providing “a hands on” training session for youth performers where questions and feedback are encouraged.  There will be 15 minute breaks between each workshop and the Intensive concludes at 1:30 p.m.

The workshop leaders include Tim McDonald, the Founding Chairman of iTheatrics and co-founder of the Junior Theater Festival, Steven Kennedy, the Resident Choreographer for Broadway Junior, Marty Johnson, iTheatric’s Director of Education and master teacher, and Cindy Ripley, a nationally recognized education consultant, who is well known for her hands-on and high energy approach to making musical theater come alive for students.  They will be assisted by several local Middle School Drama Teachers who have participated in the Junior Theater Festival.

In addition to the workshops, the Intensive is taking place at the same time and location as the Theater of the Stars youth auditions for THE KING AND I.  All of the students attending the JTF Spring Student Intensive will have the opportunity at the conclusion of the workshop to audition for the shows.  Students who attend the workshop will be given specific audition times in the afternoon and will be taught the song for the auditions during the workshop.  Participation in the workshop does not guarantee a spot in the show but it does help the student to be poised and prepared for the audition.

Prices for the Intensive are a great value and depend on how quickly the students respond and register.  Students who register by April 13th (early registration) will pay only $50.  Students who register by April 18th will pay $60 (for pre-registration).  April 18th is the cut-off date for pre-registration.  To register at the door on April 21st, the cost is $75 (registration on the day of the event starts at 8:00 a.m.).  The Intensive is limited to 200 participants.

For more information and to pre-register for the Intensive please contact Marguerite Daniel Mancini at 404-252-8960 or e-mail at marguerite@theaterofthestars.com.
