Robert Spano to Lead Atlanta Symphony in Brahms's Symphony No. 2, 2/21-23

Music Director Robert Spano will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in Brahms's Second Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony premiere of Respighi's Concerto in modo misolidio with Finnish pianist Olli Mustonen. The program will also include the Overture to Verdi's La forza del destino, led by guest conductor Alexandra Arrieche. The concerts will take place February 21-23 at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

These performances will mark Mr. Mustonen's fourth appearance with the Orchestra.

Prior to the Orchestra's subscription performance on Thursday, February 21, 2013, ASO Insider and Program Annotator Ken Meltzer and members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will host a pre-concert chamber music recital from 6:45-7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall. Violinists Jun-Ching Lin and Carolyn Hancock, violist Paul Murphy, and cellist Jennifer Humphreys - joined by guest mezzo-soprano Kate Murray - will perform Respighi's Il Tramonto. The second part of the program will feature violinists Christopher Pulgram and John Meisner, violist Yang-Yoon Kim, and cellist Jennifer Humphreys performing the first movement of Beethoven's String Quartet, Op. 59, No. 3. The recital is free and open to all ticket holders for the February 21-23, 2013, concerts.
