Newnan Community Theatre Company Presents IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE 12/11-20

Newnan Community Theatre Company (NCTC) and Bank of Coweta proudly present "It's a Wonderful Life" on December 11, 12, 18 & 19 at 8 PM, and December 13 & 20 at 2:30 PM, at the theater located 24 1st Avenue in downtown Newnan. The play is written by James W. Rodgers, adapted from the movie by Frank Capra, and directed for NCTC by Tony Peregoy. Tickets are going very fast, opening night is already sold out. Reservations are encouraged and may be obtained through our website www.newnantheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 770-682-6282.

With a cast of over 30 actors ranging in age from 7 to 76, this play has all the elements: action, love, excitement, and humor of the favorite Christmas classic film. From the 'lasso the moon' scene to the dystopia of Pottersville, NCTC has created an exciting holiday event for the entire family. Come see George, Clarence, Mary, Zuzu, Mr. Potter, Bert, Ernie, and all the others this weekend!

One man's life can have more impact on things around him than anyone might realize. This is the main lesson in "It's a Wonderful Life." The play starts off with everyone in town praying for the safety of a man by the name of George Bailey (portrayed by Chad Davis), who had apparently been acting strange lately. In response to these prayers we meet Clarence Odbody (Robbie Kirkland), an angel with a love of the book "Tom Sawyer", a second class angel who has not yet earned his wings. Clarence tells George that he has more strength in him then he knows and takes George on a tour of his life in order for him to understand his importance in this world.

In the end, the town comes to the rescue of George who truly does have a wonderful life. His brother Harry arrives Harry arrives just in time to toast his brother, for a man with this many friends is a rich man indeed. He also gives George a beat up old copy of "Tom Sawyer", the book Clarence had been reading. Harry says that a crazy old man give it to him at the airport and made him promise to give it to George personally. Inside was a note reminding George just how precious life is. A bell rings and we hear the famous line "Listen daddy, teacher says every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings." This show is a great example of just how valuable the gift of life is, and how large of an impact even one person can have on the life of so many others.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students/seniors, and $10 for children. Caricature artist Bob Comeans will be drawing in the lobby on December 11 and 12 before the show and during intermission. Caricatures make great Christmas gifts and part of the proceeds benefit NCTC. For more information on this and other upcoming shows, visit the theatre's website.
