Guitarist Milos Karadaglic Joins the Atlanta Symphony, 2/7 & 8

Guest conductor Xian Zhang -Music Director of The Giuseppe Verdi Orchestra of Milan and former Associate Conductor of the New York Philharmonic- will make her Atlanta Symphony debut leading the Orchestra in Tchaikovsky's romantic Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture and his Symphony No. 2, "Little Russian," named because of its basis in three Ukranian folk songs. Montenegrin guitarist Milos Karadaglic, hailed as a "new guitar hero" by the London Telegraph, will make his Atlanta Symphony debut performing Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez.

The concerts will take place February 7 and 8, at 8:00 p.m., and February 10, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Mr. Karadaglic took up the guitar at age eight and began studying at London's Royal Academy of Music at age 16. His debut album, released in 2011, sold more than 150,000 copies, and his last solo recital at Prince Albert Hall in London had an audience of 3,000.

Prior to the performance on February 7, 2013, ASO Insider and Program Annotator Ken Meltzer will lead a lively discussion on the pieces presented and the stories behind them. Pre-concert talks are Thursday evenings, 7:00-7:30pm, in Atlanta Symphony Hall (unless otherwise noted). Concerts previews are free and open to all concert tickets holders.
