Atl Symphony Announces 2013 Decorators' Show House & Gardens

Nestled in the heart of Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood sits one of the city's most impressive homes - a grand display of French architecture constructed by William T. Baker, one of America's most famed residential designers. The French-inspired home will be this year's project house for the 43rd Annual Atlanta Symphony Associates' Decorators' Show House & Gardens April 20 - May 12, 2013. Proceeds from the event will support the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and its education and community engagement programs.

Over the course of just a few weeks, an array of the Southeast's most talented designers will showcase their talents by transforming more than 30 design spaces in the estate into a spectacular piece of art. Visitors will be swept off their feet as each room they enter will have been completely redesigned to fit a unique theme of the designer's choice, paying homage to Baker and to this incredible event, which is the longest running of its kind in the Southeast.

This year's Show House Garden, designed by landscape architect Ed Castro, will also be included as part of the Atlanta Botanical Garden's annual Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour. Guests who visit the Decorators' Show House will be eligible for discounted $20 tickets to the Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour, and guests who participate in the Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour may purchase discounted $15 tickets to visit the Decorators' Show House. This year marks the first time the Atlanta Symphony and the Atlanta Botanical Garden have partnered for these popular events.

Also new this year, IKEA will partner with the Atlanta Symphony Associates to design a room in the 2013 Show House. This partnership stems from the shared commitment of both organizations to support education for young people in and beyond the Atlanta community. A design team from IKEA will transform the terrace bonus room, and will donate all of the furniture and materials for the room to the Atlanta Symphony Associates. The contents of the completed room will be raffled off at the end of the Show House. IKEA FAMILY card members may purchase discounted $18 tickets to visit the Decorators' Show House.

"The Atlanta Symphony Associates' Decorators Show House & Gardens is one of Atlanta's greatest traditions and is known throughout the country as one of the finest showcases of design," said Natalie Miller, the 2013 Show House Chair. "I'm thrilled to be involved in this year's project, and can't wait to see what this year's designers have lined up for this beautiful historic home."

Organized by the Atlanta Symphony Associates, proceeds from the event will support the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and its many influential education and community engagement programs. These programs help to nurture the talent of emerging young musicians and bring music into the lives of the people within the Atlanta community and beyond. Included in these educational initiatives are the Talent Development Program, which trains and supports gifted, young African-American and Latino musicians through private coaching, mentoring, and performances, and also the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra - a hub for some of the country's most talented young musicians for nearly 40 years.

"The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is absolutely vital to our city - both because of its world-class artistry and its demonstrated commitment to the community," said Ms. Miller. "I'm proud to be involved in the Decorators' Show House because it directly supports the Orchestra's mission to bring music-rich educational experiences to children in and beyond Atlanta."
